The PL7611 card provides 1:1 redundancy switching for the Sat-Light/Platinum interfacility link products, including the IF and L-band families.
The PL7611 can be controlled both locally and remotely. The MCP of the Global Foxcom Platinum series [PL700] can set the switching state (either remote or local) or the transmission path (channel A or B). In case of an SNMP manager failure, the user can override the SNMP manager and take local control via the front panel override switch.
The MCP of the Sat-Light/Platinum series displays the active path graphically. Switching from the primary to the redundant path can be done manually or automatically via the PL7611. When the device switches to the redundant channel, it remains locked and continues transmission over this channel, independent of the input signal of the primary channel. The highly reliable, high-frequency relay redundancy switch can be configured to detect faults in the optical signal or both. Additionally, the user can set the threshold at which the PL7611 detects loss of RF signals.
The PL7611 provides two methods to detect which channel is in operation:
- Via a 3-pin Molex connector on the rear side;
- Through the chassis via the 9-pin connector.
Redundant paths are configured with a Platinum RF splitter that splits the RF signal to two transmitter cards. These cards are connected via singlemode fiber optic cables to two receivers. Each receiver card is connected to the PL7611 using a supplied coaxial bridging cable. The PL7611 then passes the RF output signal to the end device.
