Global Foxcom’s Sat-Light/Platinum PL700 MCP provides comprehensive management and control for all Sat-Light/Platinum fiber optic cards, redundancy switches, power supplies, and communication cards. The MCP is built on a rack-mounted card with an integrated graphical SNMP manager. The Java-based graphical management tool is accessible via standard web browsers or MIB browsers. The MCP supports alarm logging, including transmitter and receiver faults in both RF and optical domains. Monitoring features include measuring ambient temperature as well as RF/optical input and output power, plus software downloads for each card.
The PL700 MCP card features an RS232 port for initialization, debugging, and security settings. The front panel Ethernet port connects to the user’s LAN. Two additional Ethernet ports are available on the rear of the MCP.
The Sat-Light/Platinum MCP GUI offers an “almost lifelike” graphical representation of the Sat-Light/Platinum cards housed in the 3U rack. The status of all card operations is displayed, and clicking on each card reveals the RF or optical values in dBm.
The open architecture of the Sat-Light/Platinum MIB enables management through the integrated GUI or through a range of third-party management systems such as HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, and CA Unicenter.
